My Earth in 180 minutes

FairCarboN takes action!

The programme has chosen to integrate this initiative into its governance framework in order to actively contribute to the transformation of research practices.

Nicolas Gratiot, research director at IRD and co‑founder of Ma Terre, is now involved in the governance of FairCarboN to help design and lead reflections on reducing the greenhouse‑gas emissions associated with research activities.

The “Ma Terre in 180 minutes” workshop aims to spark engaging and accessible discussions on carbon footprints, by examining the various activities concerned—such as modelling, equipment purchases, and consumables—and by proposing concrete measures to reduce this footprint by 50% by 2030 at the latest. This approach encourages collective awareness and supports the adoption of more sustainable practices within the research community.

This initiative strengthens FairCarboN’s commitment to responsible science and aligns with broader efforts to reduce emissions across research infrastructures and scientific projects.
