Rémi Cardinael will serve as lead author for the next IPCC report.

Rémi Cardinael, leader of Axis 3 of FairCarboN on biomass production and use, and contributor to the CrosyeN project, will be one of the Lead Authors for the AFOLU/soils chapter of the next IPCC report, to be released in 2027. This nomination recognises his expertise in soil carbon dynamics, agroecological transitions, and land‑based climate mitigation, and highlights the growing contribution of French research to the work of the IPCC.

He will attend the first Lead Authors meeting in Rome, taking place from 14 to 16 April. He is expected to serve as the primary writer for the sections on agroforestry, conservation agriculture (soil carbon sequestration), and N₂O emissions in low‑input systems, particularly in Africa.
